Notice of use: The internet hotspots are for student learning, not family social or entertainment purposes.  The hotspots, and the data plan that comes with them, remain the property of New Ulm Public Schools. You are responsible for any damage or loss relating to the hot spot.

Turning on the hotspot

  1. Press and hold the power button on front of unit until you see the "Ellipsis jetpack" message
  2. A white light on the bottom will flash when the the hotspot becomes active.

Turning off the hotspot

You should turn off the hotspot when it is not in use.

  • Hold down the power button until you see "Goodbye" on the screen.

To connect to the hotspot

  1. Open the wifi settings on your device.
  2. Select "NUPS-HOTSPOT" as the network.
  3. Enter the password.

Remember: while the hotspot will provide internet access, its performance peaks at a lower speed than most home internet providers. Streaming video and music can quickly eat up bandwidth, so it's important to only use them when necessary.

Returning your hotspot

When your loan period expires, please return the hotspot, power cord, and box to the main office of the building you picked it up from.

Tips

  • Be sure to charge your hotspot regularly if you use it unplugged.
  • If you do not need to move the hotspot around, you may leave it plugged in.
  • For best performance do not use more than two devices at time with the hotspot, and work in close proximity.
  • Like a cell phone, the hotspot includes a signal strength indicator in the upper left corner of the screen. You may need to move it to another part of your home if you experience a weak signal.
  • Hotspots are limited to eight simultaneous connections. If you connect to the hotspot with a non-school device for testing, be sure to "forget" the "NUPS-HOTSPOT" network or you could max out the connections and accidentally block access to our equipment.
